We humans are inherently interdependent beings with needs and desires, navigating our contexts as best we can with the tools available to us. Our experiences are shaped by our position in the world, exposing us to different forms of violence, collective pains, and intersecting systems of oppression.
In a system that needs us sad and isolated, the mental health discipline has often served as a tool to pathologize, individualize, and naturalize power structures. However, many of us also believe in the therapeutic as a tool for liberation, and we reclaim community, dignity and care as rights.
Often, different parts of ourselves come into conflict, making it difficult to connect with our most authentic, compassionate, and connected self. My approach to therapy is to create a safe space for vulnerability, exploration and inner dialogue, where we can, with curiosity, sensitivity and co-regulation, tend to the inner parts that seek to be heard, cared for, and integrated.
I draw on the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model and the body-centered approach of trauma therapies, grounded in the humanistic foundation of client‑centered therapy: empathetic listening, authenticity, unconditional acceptance. At present, I do not work with diagnoses or clinical treatments, so sessions are not covered by health insurance.
Somatu is born from the desire to support processes of transformation that honor authenticity and each person's unique reality. I have experience in psychosocial and pedagogical support for parents and youth, and I work with a gender perspective: the personal is political. From my personal and professional background, I care about creating safer spaces for neurodivergent, queer, non-monogamous, and migrant teenagers and adults.
